Hi Marvin,
Thanks for your answer!
Good to know that in the lab-exam, something in the question will point out
to use local-as or confed. In the workbooks which I'm currently using, most
of the time it is assumed that if there are private AS-number, they have to
be "translated" (confed, local-as).
regards
Roger

1. Unless there is something in the question that specifically makes you
think you need to manually set the cluster ID, you can just let the router
choose.
2. Do not assume confed or local-as only based on the particular AS numbers
given. There will be some guidance in the question if you need to configure
one or both of those features.

Subject: BGP Question
Hi Group,
I have two generic BGP questions, related to the lab-exam.
1: When you configure a RR-Cluster, do you configure the bgp cluster-id
manually or do you let the router choose by itself, using his own router-id?
2: If you find in a scenario private and public AS numbers, do you
automatically setup confederation or local as for the private AS number, to
"convert" it to a public AS in order to peer with the other public AS?
How is that in the LAB-test? Should we automatically do these two steps?
Thanks in advance
Roger
