Re: Cisco Be aware Juniper Switch coming

Well Mark I used to work for Cisco sometime back for the ISBU 6500. And now
I work for Juniper, honestly I think I would give Cisco more credit on the
switching front. Their product is more mature when compared to Juniper. (I
don't work for the EX platform so have no clue on it). Did read the
networkworld and I was quite impressed with what Juniper came up with. But
still long way to go, i didn't know that Juniper was more expensive in the
switching front. Juniper always bets on its JUNOS code, so the advantage you
get is a single code across more platforms. I think if you have been happy
with Juniper products before, you would be happy with the switch too since
it gives you familiarity with the code. But the product has still some time
before it really rocks like the M/T series.

Suggestion, if your order is big I am sure Cisco or Juniper won't mind doing
a POC for you. For sure juniper won't mind. Do your own comparison. I love
multicast technology and according to networkworld Juniper isn't doing
good there as yet. So my vote as of now would be the cisco switches.

Cheers,
Hoogen
