I think I see your concern...but remember the chicken and egg problem. The
issue was that we didnt have an rp for the auto-rp groups. thats why we
couldn't flood the information. we didn't need dense-mode, we just needed an
rp. I'll repeat:

we don't need dense mode, we just need an RP! :)

The only problem I would think of is normally auto-rp overrides ip pim
rp-address unless you use the override command. In this case maybe because
the addresses are more specific than the auto-rp default 224.0.0.0/4 the
static wins.
