It means that with the code you are running you are only allowed to have a
single active VLAN interface

My query is that When i do a no shut on a specific vlan interface it
comes up but then immediately it shuts down the other vlan interfaces.
I am using cisco 2950 switch.
Following is a small output:-

SW2(config)#interface vlan 201
SW2(config-if)#no shu
SW2(config-if)#no shutdown
SW2(config-if)#end
SW2#
01:00:21: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by console
01:00:21: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Vlan201, changed state to up
01:00:21: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Vlan100, changed state to
administratively down
01:00:22: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Vlan201,
changed state to up
01:00:22: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Vlan100,
