Traceroute reply packets are return on different interfaces. No biggie.

Don't worry.

If you want to fix this make sure to use eigrp delay or bandwidth settings
to make the "alternate" or "backup" side of the network less preferable to
DUAL.

Subject: RE: traceroute load balancing question

Hi

I have 2 x router with 2 x serial links between them running eigrp. They
are load balancing. I believe the default load balancing method is per
destination. When I do a traceroute to the lan from Router 1 to router 2
I get the following.

1. 192.168.1.2 ( router 2 Serial 0/0 )
2. 192.168.1.6( router 2 Serial 0/1 )
3. 192.168.1.2 ( router 2 Serial 0/0 )

Can someone please explain the logic as to why the trace goes to
serial0/0, then serial 0/1 then back to serial 0/0 of the nexthop
router.
