It all depends on you. If you live in one area all your life, than it takes
less than 6 months. You first get a Interim Secret clearance which means
you can access secret level info. Once you get a full Secret, TS is less
than a year and SCI is even less. Once again, if you lived in more than
once place in the US, it takes longer because the investigators have to go
to other states. If you were in a foreign country, than it can take longer.
I've known people who have a Interim TS for two years running.

I have a top secret ssbi/sci
It takes about a 6 months to a year for secret and another year for
top secret.
Ssbi/poly/life style poly are types of top secrets
Sci is just a compartment.
