Back to Jack's original question, is it safe ? No!
Is it doable ? Yes, if you can finish your lab earlier.
Even for domestic flight, airline asks to arrive in airport 2 hours
before flight time.
Plus you have to give some room for local travel time, and some delay by
unexpected facts.

So if you ask whether it is safe or not, I would say "No, it's not safe!".
