Why not GLBP? The only reason you would have to use VRRP over HSRP is in a
multi-vendor router situation. VRRP doesn't have a command for use bia but
beyond that the functionality is very similar between the two. Some people
are always die hard cisco and others are die hard industry standard ;-)

Hi
I'm trying to decide whether to utilise HSRP or VRRP for a new network I'm
putting in. I've had a look around and can't really see any compelling
reasons to use one over the other. From a functionality perspective they
appear pretty much identical, the only differentiator I can see is that HSRP
is Cisco proprietary whereas VRRP is standards based. Does anyone have any
major pros or cons of using one over the other?
