You do not need a polygraph just for Top Secret. Polygraph comes later for
additional access. Plan at least a year for both Secret and TS.

it took ~9 months to get mine (secret), and i believe it costs
about 8k if your thinking of trying to get it yourself.
i think for top secret you have to go through a life style audit
and then a few polygraphs and i know they are really expensive
and take a long time.
