Hi,
Maybe it's because (fast)ethernet is broadcast media and serial isn't?
I mean, on a router, every interface it's suposse to be in different
network (2 ethernet IFs in the same subnet, that's switching, isn't
it?). For example, if you have the two ethernet IFs with host
addresses from the same subnet, thats because are sharing same
segment, so if the router needs to forward a packet to an outside host
in that subnet and do not know MAC address, flood ARP request over the
two ethernet IFs.... now you have a L2 loop. Serial (I assume FR
encapsulation) do not works that way....
