I found the older blog that has a great tutorial for setting up a loopback
adapter manually to use in GNS3 (as opposed to using VPC). Check out this

Again, it's quite a ways down the page. The section is called "*Configuring
a Host in The Network*". Nearby it adding SDM is discussed as well.
Haven't tried adding it, but I'm sure it's pretty easy to do. The loopback
adapter setup is very straightforward.
