This is the key. If everyone who failed sent a message every time they
failed I would tend to think people would get discouraged. Good quality
passing emails tend to encourage people. I do not remember sending in an
email either way.

Also it is somewhat natural to hide ones failures and promote ones
successes. Facing those failure and learning from them is where the true
success is.
