RE: CCIE candidate failures..

This is something I focused on as a critical issue in my last month of study.
If something isn't required for connectivity, and I can't do it 90% or more
off the top of my head, I write "skip" and move on. Even on "core"
technologies, there are a lot of non-core things. If you're setting up vlans
and they ask you to make sure that a specific vlan never traverses a given
trunk, or uses it as backup only, that's not a core task. If the solution
and/or syntax doesn't jump out at you, either give yourself 5 minutes or just
skip it.

The Brians have a great Class-on-demand about lab preparation that goes into
all of this. After learning the technology, which is hard, it would be a
shame to miss the cutoff because of time management, which is comparatively
easy. My co-worker (R&S CCIE) took it a step further by telling me when I was
having trouble with redistribution that I had to be prepared to use statics in
an emergency. Miss the points, get the connectivity, move on and hopefully
come back and un-butcher.

The information in this e-mail is intended for the
attention and use of the everyone in the world, or I wouldn't have sent it in
an unencrypted email. This message or any part thereof can and should be
disclosed, copied, distributed and retained by any person without
authorization from the addressee. Furthermore, I reserve the right to
disclose, copy, distribute and retain anything anyone sends *me* via email, up
to and including putting the exact text in a MySpace bulletin.
