Doing Mock labs is a very good way to access your prepareness for the real
thing.
However, they are not a guarantee of how you'll do on the ral lab. By and
large, they do tend to be
more difficult than the real lab, but even so, getting a passing score on
the mock lab doesn't mean you'll pass the lab.
Likewise, getting a failing grade on the mock lab doesn't mean you won't
pass the real lab.
There are a number of non-technical factors that can have a greater impact
on your results such as
your ability to NOT get nervous or flustered during the lab when something
isn't working right, your willingness and ability to
ask the proctors questions when you're not clear what the task is
requesting, your ability to manage time, your ability to keep track
of the interactions between tasks completed early on in the lab and later on
in the lab, your ability to judge the criticality of a given task and
your ability to not mis-interpret what the task is requesting.
So, you see, there are lots of non-technical factors which can greatly
influence your actual results.
That said, I think it's a good idea to develop your mental agility skills
and I think one of the best ways to do that is
to do mock labs from different vendors. If you do that, you'll probably
notice that each vendor has their own style of wording tasks
and it's very important that you don't become so accustomed to one vendor's
way of stating something that you're thrown off when you take the actual lab
and find the lab is worded in an entirely different way.
So, my advice to you and all other ccie candidates is to keep focused, stay
determined, and stay calm.
HTH, Tim

Subject: What's your View on Mock Lab Result
Hi Guys and Gals,
Need to bounce my thoughts off of you.
Finished a Net Master mock lab yesterday evening....I've heard people
mention that their work book can nearly bring you to tears and doing the
mock lab last night I can see why...great mock lab, the standard core topics
pretty standard but some of the other stuff was a bit off the wall.
My result 77..Now I'm trying to tell myself that this is okay as the real
deal lab isn't quite as punishing as this...I've been twice before and know
what to expect. Looking back at my previous two I now know that I would have
been lucky to pass and didn't deserve to, so I've been hard at the books for
the last 4-5 months and have seen a great improvement...but I'm still
hitting a 77.
For those that have done the Net Master stuff should I be sort of okay that
I've got such a result being as I feel they are harder than the real deal?
I'm getting a bit close now and the old nerves are starting to kick in.
Kicking myself now as there was a couple of real killers which I worked out
at the last minute, then changed my route maps and over wrote the real
simple part of the question...aahhahaha..
