Wow, thank you. As a CCNP instructor who teaches the CCNP in the CCIE format, I'm sending you something.. Check out page #9
Getting SVI's working seems to be rocket science for these idiots. my workbook is from a REAL example where a company PAID a consulting firm a $1500 per diem rate do put their users on a different subnet than the servers and work with the Microsoft guy to setup dhcp across the svi. he never got it done. I sent his ugly ass packing! Get out of the wiring closet LAMER

To ALL,
A little OT, but here's another perspective to the whole CCIE thing. I've been in networking about 8 years and started with a Cisco 805 router that had corrupt flash. My whole pursuit of the CCIE is not necessarily money.
I think with T.S. clearance and my experience I'm doing decent, but certainly not rich. I've recertified my CCNP twice and have been working on Cisco quite some time.
The fact is I see a bunch of guys at work with paper CCNAs and CCNPs. They all trade their study guides and trade their braindump BS and I'm sick of these guys with those kind of CCNPs running around making people think they are as qualified as me or as anyone that worked hard for their certs. I laughed the other day when a guy at my work introduced himself as a Sr.
Network Engineer, when he just started networking two years ago and couldn't get an SVI up for a whole day until I showed him what he was doing wrong, this was a braindump CCNP!
This is the reason I'm getting a CCIE, because I know these paper certifiers just can't get a damn cheat sheet and pass the lab. I'm looking for the separation from myself and these paper cert guys and CCIE is it. I hunger for the knowledge, too know more then the next guy, too constantly better myself and move too the top. I wish I stuck with this motivation years ago, but I'm glad I found it again about 4 months ago. God willing, hopefully I'll pass the lab w/i the next couple months and can begin the SP track and start to move away from all these paper certifiers.
I think if you have a passion for it, the money will come. For now I will lean learn and constantly educate and feed that hunger I crave for knowledge.
sincerely,
Dale K.

No.
Bad idea...
The cert is already distracted and diluted by all the others things (CCDE, CCMA, etc on the horizon).
My clients all ask me "are you going to go for the CCDE". The masses in IT know the bar has already been raised, and that the CCIE is now on the ropes...

Anyone else think they need to make the CCIE for the different topics a different?
Such as..
CCVE = Cisco Certified Voice Expert
CCSE = Cisco Certifed Security Expert
CCRSE = Cisco Certified Routing and Switching Expert
ect...
If you tell someone your a CCIE they kinda automatically assume your routing and switching
And yeah please update the voice lab as Brad said.
