Cleared the Lab

  Hi All,

I have passed the R&S lab on 29-May-2008 in Bangalore. I used Internetwork Expert for my preparation. I also tried few labs from NMC. Both IEWB and NMC are very much helpful for my preparation.

NMC workbook will be very tough, But will make you understand the technology well enough. IEWB helped a lot to learn more about technology and have very good explanation in the solution guide.

I took 4 mock labs in IEWB and one in NMC and failed in all mock labs . Mock labs helped me a lot to know how the real labs will be graded and what are the points we need to be careful while doing lab.

My first attempt was in Dubai in the month of Feb. Every thing was fine till lunch. But after lunch, something went wrong. Some technologies which I am working in my day to day life went wrong and made me mad. I was sure that I missed it this time. So I was not much worried.

My next attempt was in April 25th. This time I was much confident that I will clear it when I stepped out of the lab. But once I reached home, I started realizing that I have done some silly careless mistakes. On looking into the results, I failed in 3 points which I would have scored if I was careful enough.

I know I am prepared well and dont want to take a long time. So I booked immediately with one month gap on 29-May-2008. I know I will get it this time and by gods grace, I got it.
About my study strategy, I spent around 6 to 7 hours for preparation daily. I use to read case studies, Field notice from Cisco site apart from practicing workbook labs. I also used Netpro. Thats a wonderful community where we will get to know real time issues from field and design level questions.
I did all Workbook labs for 2 times. While doing the workbook labs for the first time, I was not much worried about the time I took to finish the lab. After getting the desired output for a task, I use to try other possible solutions also. This way we will get to know why we should use a particular solution. If I am not clear about any particular solution or technology, I used google and not Doc CD.

Second time, I was much time conscious and tried to finish first 10 labs in 6 to 7 hours. Then I use to book only 1 session from gradedlabs which is 5.5 hours. So we will have only 5.5 hours to finish the entire lab. Some times I have slipped to finish the lab within 5.5 hours, But I was able to finish most of the lab on time. This helped me to finish the actual lab in 5 hours and had enough time for verification. This time, I used Cisco Doc CD and I made myself familiar with DoC CD for all my grey areas.
Thanks to all who have replied me for my (silly) questions

My special thanks to my wife who was very much understanding and was very much patience despite of being a newly married couple. I got married last September and after 1 week of my marriage I started taking rack rental and spent more time with Cisco routers than with my wife.

Thanks to my parents who are very much supportive to me (both financially and mentally )
I would also like to thank my senior who shared my work and gave me bandwidth for my studies.

 Thanks again to all.

Will take a break and planning to start my SP track.

 Regards,
 Nagendra
