I did have a similar issue to this recently.
Cisco advised me that the router will check the RIP Database to see if the
networks matched by your route-map exist. If the matched networks reside in
the RIP Database then the default route will be advertised out.

Cisco advised that the router does not check the unicast routing table for the
network you are matching in the route-map. Maybe you need to try and add the
E1/E2 interfaces into RIP so that they are present in the RIP Database.

I am also aware that there is a Cisco bug ID for an issue regarding the
'default-information originate route-map' command on some IOS's

I would be interested in others views and experiences on the RIP
'default-information originate route-map' command having to match networks from
the RIP Database and not the Unicast Routing table?
