Well, the router is asking for Password, and it's saying authentication
failed.

aaa authentication login default line none
This means, try the line password for login, and if there is no line
password then use "none" password, meaning you're allowed access unto
the lines, if you don't do line vty 0 4 | password "password"

you don't need to do login authentication default for aaa to work on
your vty lines.

What I think is happening good_ccie's case is that, the authentication
is trying to use the line password, he then puts a wrong one in, and the
line is rejecting it. If there is no password set, the line will attempt
to login him in without asking him for password. Because of the default
line "none"

If he had only default line, and he attempts to connect to that vty line
without a password set on the vty line, then the line will open but it
will not even bother to log him in due to failed authentication, the
Router will simply come back with AuthenticationFailed a number of
times.

So in a nutshell, Good_CCIE just have to make sure he's putting in the
correct password on the vty line(s), because that's what the Router is
asking of him in his case.

Many Thanks
