SSM validation

I've been working on SSM in my lab and while the configuration appears to be
simple enough I'm not able to validate it beyond the last-hop router. Is
there a way to somehow simulate an SSM client (such as ssmping) with a lab
router as we do with non-SSM multicast? I have not yet found a way to
specify the source on the router as an SSM client would.
