That is correct;

The best you can do is delete or rename the vlan.dat file from flash.

Rename flash:vlan.dat flash:vlan.bak

Or

Delete flash:vlan.dat

Reading the documentation, it says that we cannot erase the vtp domain name
once we have configured it. So does this mean that there is no way we can
reset the domain name to "null"?

I can see that a write erase and a reload don't affect the vtp database.
