The switch which they may be working on may have the system mtu set to a non
1500. This is not shown in the sh run. That may be why.

Thanks for your reply,

I am aware of what the command does, but i guess my question really was why
we needed this command for this task when there are no dot1q tunnelling in
the Lab.( i.e Core lab 4)
