I want to thank GS and briefly explain my journey to obtaining the CCIE.
18 months ago I decided to take the plunge. I started with 6 years of
experience with Cisco Routers and Switches. I got the CCNA and CCNP in 2001
which expired in 2004. I debated whether I should start over and do the CCNA
and CCNP then CCIE but felt somewhat confident just going for the CCIE. I
used IE products. COD, Workbooks Version 4 Vol 1, 2, and 3. All are great
products! I passed the written in June of 2007 and the lab preparation began
intensely. I studied about 15 to 30 hours a week for the last 11 months
while working full time at my job. Towards the last month or so I used the
IE Mock Labs. These helped me narrow down on my weaknesses and also helped
me build confidence. I passed 2 while I failed 2 of their harder Mock labs.
Yesterday, May 5th I arrived at the San Jose testing facility. I completed
all but 1 question of the lab that I still cannot figure out. However, it
was enough to get the passing grade which I received last night around 9PM
PST. What an awesome feeling to be complete!
I want to thank Cisco for this awesome challenge, IE and their amazing
products, Paul Borghese, GS and all the experts so willing to help out, and
of course God for getting me through the long days of frustration when I
felt like giving up and for being there when I needed help the most.
