Communities are primarily for tagging and grouping bgp routes... when you
have 250,000 of something this usually makes your life easier...

If I had 250,000 people, as an urban planner I would need communities to
divide up the town, right?

In most organizations this would be over engineering; save the well know
communities. I often use NO ADVERTISE for certain dynamic policy routing.

Subject: Help understanding BGP community

Hello Experts,

Can any one please explain how to use BGP community? I know the basic
understanding of community to influence inbound traffic , why cant we use
MED or AS_ PATH prepend to do that? What's advantages or disadvantages of
one over another?

Any help with example will be highly appreciate.

Thanks,
Ashwani
