Hi,
Yes, I have configured that on my port access VLAN pool on my DHCP
Sevrer. It is not actually required on the Voice VLAN because what I
want is for the phone to come up, start sending untagged DHCP packets
on the access VLAN, learn about an IP address as well as the Voice
VLAN (via Option 176) and then do a soft reset and start sending
tagged DHCP packets on the Voice VLAN to now learn about its IP
address on the Voice VLAN subnet.
Now the problem I am hitting is, after the phone has learnt about the
access VLAN IP address and the Voice VLAN tag, it starts tagging its
packets with the Voice VLAN (naturally) but instead of doing a DHCP
RELEASE and DISCOVER, etc, to acquire a new IP address, it sends out
traffic with a source address of the original subnet, but in the Voice
VLAN, which causes the switch to drop these packets. All I have to do
to get around this is to manually reset the phone and it does a new
DHDHCP DISCOVER, etc and acquires a new IP address in the right
subnet, which works all fine now.
I guess I would have raised a bug with Avaya if I were working for them :).
Anyways, thanks!
Sadiq
