Hi all,

I've been waiting for a long time to say this, but I passed my CCIE R&S first
time today in San Jose. Like most people on this group I am a silent member,
but I appreciate all the expert opinions that are around here.

People maybe interested to hear my strategy, so here it is:

Passed written september 2007.

First period of study for Internetwork Expert individual topic labs, to get me
up to speed on the various technologies, I used the Doc CD from day one and
extensively.

I was able to achieve most if not all of this on Dynamips.

Second period was the 20 Internetwork Expert technology labs, covering a whole
range of topics. I did all of these of a full suite of Cisco routers and
switches which was a luxury I admit.

Last few months before exam I took several Netmaster Class 4/8hr assessments
labs. These really gave me a kick up the backside!

Some top tips:

1. No matter what study material you use, what really counts if the number of
hours put in, you need to be at it day after day.
2. Always use the Doc CD as first port of call, you need to be profficient in
the workings of it.
3. You must must must get some practice on timed conditions, it is vitally
important you know your exam pace before you attempt the lab.
4. When booking your exam, try an avoid booking months in advance, there are
usually lots of free slots upto a month in advance

I am Brit living in California so now that I've passed I can start to enjoy
myself ... or do the Security.. I wonder!

Thanks

Andy
