Re: Debug in 6500....

Hello Anbu,

There can be several general factors that I would suggest anytime before
running a debug or can impact the performance of a device.

Should I log the console messages to a buffer (if using a general debug)?

What is the device used for? (a core device in a main site may have
greater usage than another device that is not used too much)

What's the current and recent CPU usage?

How's the memory looking?

Is my device using cef / dcef?

Is the issue that I'm trying to fix worth running a debug on prod
equipment? If not, schedule and obtain approval after hours (normally
during a change window).

What is the device used for (is it supporting a full BGP table, doing lots
of NAT, encryption; functions that may not be hardware based)?

Andre

Re: Debug in 6500....

Yes ,currently i have used debug ip packet detail with out any
sub-command. i can use access-list to minimize it . But the reason i
asked is , i did the same work with many other configuration in
another site but it is not giving any problem when i am enabling the
debug.

Regards,
Anbu.
