Hi,
Please feel free to correct any mistakes in the premise of this question.
Based on what I have read about MPLS, it requires CEF to be active on a
Router. Once an IGP is used to populate the routing table, the CEF adjacency
which creates a mapping for a known route in the routing table to a layer 2
address of the next-hop used to reach the route.
The CEF table is then used to build a FEC which is in turn used to build the
FIB & the Label forwarding Table by assigning Labels to routes in the same FEC
& mapping an outgoing label to an interface.
If CEF is required for this Label forwarding Table, how then would one run a
debug command when troubleshooting a problem on an MPLS enabled router if
process switching needs to be turned on while fast switching & CEF switching
are disabled on the interface(s) in question?
Thanks in advance for your anticipated input on this.
