Hi GS,
Work Book I used was, NetmasterClass DoIT, and practiced/labbed all the
scenarios, in my home lab. As far as complexity is concerned, workbook
providers are always much more complex than the real lab. My personal
preference is to either go for NMC(since they have the same number of
equipments as in CCIE Lab, keeping our cost down for purchase of equipment)
or IEWB, although I have never used IEWB, but I am suggesting this after
discussion with many of my friends.
Second, I was fully in and out of DocCD, not although everyline, but I knew
where to look for topic if I am struck up for any topic.
My first attempt, I was not having enough confidence that I would make the
lab, but I thought of giving a try, also my written was about to expire in
next 2 months. Also I couldn't even touch multicast and BGP as I was already
out of time.
Second attempt, again I lost due to poor time management, although I was
able to complete 100% of the lab, but I didn't have time to verify the
results and I was scoring somewhere between 76 -78%, which gave me
confidence that I will be able to nail it next time.
Third attempt, I used a watch which had a timer facility, planned a strategy
to spend maximum of 4 minutes for each point, i.e., complete atleast 17
point for each hour, complete universal connecitivity,IPv6 including
BGP(atleast start BGP before lunch, I achieved this in this attempt). Keep
IOS Service, Multicast, and QoS for post lunch.
Don't stop for a question which you have no idea, and ignore it for
post-lunch. In my both of first 2 attempt, I was referring to DOCCD in
morning. I would personally suggest not to attend any question even if its
OSPF, that needs you to refer to DOCCD.
So, any question which needs you to refer the DOCCD, should be attempted
only after lunch.
Regards
SCD
Since I am getting many mails requesting the devices details I am enclosing
the same, for your reference.
The total amount I have spent for all the devices is Rs 3,63,400. To
summarise, the above amount I have spent is for the following devices.
2620 Router : 4 No's
2503 Router : 2 No's
2522 Router : 1 No's (work as a Frame-Relay Switch)
2511 Router : 1 No's (works as Terminal Server for consoling to all
devices)
3550 Switch : 1 No's
2950 Switch : 1No's
APC UPS 1 KVA : With Additional Battery backup (Gives upto 2 Hrs) for this
devices.
All Cables, including Serial, Smart Serial, and ethernet cable
The cables are sufficient to cable enough, so that you need not change the
physical cabling anytime. Since I purchased the complete lab and configured
the cabling till date I have never changed the cabling.
What I will also include along with this: The steel plate rack, where I have
placed all my routers now, a 1900 Switch and an ISDN Simulator.
The rate is something we can negotiate, so that we both WIN. I can also get
sh ver output of all device, later. Please note IPv6 is the feature you
wouldn't be able to practice, the rest I have managed with this devices.
As a matter of good-will, I would gladly provide all help and support for
the person, until he clears the lab.
Regards
SCD
