The way you have done it will work however you should configure it this
way:

1. Shut down the interfaces that are going to be in the channel
2. Issue the channel group command on each interface
3. No shut the interfaces
4. Get into interface configuration mode on the port-channel
  ("interface po25")
5. Issue the switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q command
6. Issue the switchport mode trunk command.

Logical configurations should be made on the port-channel. When this is
done the interfaces in the port-channel will inherit the logical
configurations.

Subject: TRUNKING

Hi,

I would like to understand ; if my interface configuration is

interface fa 0/1
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk
chanel-group 25 mode on

The above creates a port-channel 25,

do I need to add the following to the port-channel 25 based on my
interface config,

Interface port-channel 25
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk

Regards
Asif
