My opinion here to achieve "maximum effect" as per his original post is to
fix the main problem when arise which is unidirectional link.

just work up (and hevent had my usual early doze yet) and maybe not
seeing what you are saying here.

If the question does not specifically asks for the command to be on
the links, I would just enable it glabally on all switches in the
network. You could run into issues when you enable it at interface
level and your root bridge changes later in the network. Spanning-tree
loopguard stops the sending of BPDUs on certain ports and as such
could interfere with a re-election, right?
