Good day all,
With heart of thanks to God, i passed my lab yesterday (2nd April) in San
Jose. It was my second attempt.
I passed the written March 2007 and started preparation although slowly
reading the recommended books. I started lab on dynamips in September and
online rack (IE) in December.
My first attempt was at RTP on 1st February 2008, it was very painful when i
saw fail, i had 0% on 2 sections. I got back home (Lagos) and my wife had a
baby girl 3 days later. I had to suspend CCIE to assume the role of a
father.
A month later, i scheduled my second attempt with no idea of what to read.
I did my graded mock lab (had four mock lab from IE before my first
attempt) on dynamips and was very particular about little little mistake
that cost me the first attempt. I did not really bothered about the
switching section but the two sections where i scored 0%. I used this with
the IE COD along side my daughter most nights.
Materials Used:
1. IE COD (Great job from the two great Brians) 2. IE Graded Mock Lab (Four
and i failed all --- maybe i should say i passed on my 6th attempt) 3.
Dynamips --- Will not be writing this mail without this tool.
4. Routing TCP/IP Vol1 and 2
5. And ofcourse --- DOCCD.
Let me appreciate all those that asked one questions or the other on this
forum and particularly the GREAT guys that always provide timely answers
(the like of Brain D, Brain MC, Scott Morris et al)
Finally my advice to wannabe CCIE, please manage your time well enough. The
major difference between my first and second attempt was the 2 hours i had
to cross check my solution. You won't believe what you'll see during those
two hours. Maybe i will not be writing this mail if i did not have the time
to go through it over and over again.
My sincere appreciate to my sweetheart for taking care of our daughter for
me to achieve this, without her, it would have be another story. You can
imagine i was in the tied up with CCIE while she was heavy and she never
complained. I left her (and two month old baby) and travel as far as San
Jose ------ Great woman, you deserve nothing but the best from me.
I need sometime to be a GOOD father and husband before jumping on the wagon
of CCIE (SP or voice) again.
Thank you,
Gbenga
