This is what i also know
however , this is not the case in the scenario im testing , the BGP takes the metric of the IGP and send it across to the IBGP peers ! , i have not configured anything specific to change the metric , and here is the output on one of the routers (R3) , as you see some routes have metric of 10 , some with 20 ..those are the metrics of the IGP running (tested with both ISIS and ospf ..same result )

By default, BGP routes have a metric of 0 if I remember this
correctly. Therefore if you havent changed this value, is should be 0,
regardless of what IGP you are running.
