The way to upgrade from 6.x to 7.x is to first upgrade the software to
version 7.0 then do a subsequent upgrade again to 7.2
That mindset led me to the path of trying to downgrade in the
reverse fashion. having tried it on the PIX which I've tftp'ed the 6.3(5)
code and rebooting (as what Richard suggested on another post), an error
upon bootup prompted the need of code 7.0.0 before I could attempt to
downgrade (which led me in circles since Cisco doesn't have 7.0.0 on their
website). The code then reverted back to 7.1
Your solution sounds absolutely logical to me, and I'll definitely give it a
go sometime later this week.
Thanks Earl!

Alan
