Dr Pete Welcher wrote some good stuff on BGP I poured over some years ago.
Not all PhD's are flush with cash however, at least based on an anecdote I
read somewhere years back that the thing to ask cab drivers in California
was 'what's your PhD in?'
Mind you I suppose cabbies make better money these days so it's a possibly
moot point!
