RE: How to Become a CCIE v2

In some ways, the CCIE is a victim of its own success. When I passed the
CCIE, most people had never heard of the certification. One of the reasons
I created GroupStudy some 10 years ago was to promote the certification.
But now the market has flipped. There will soon be 20,000 people with their
CCIE numbers and having a CCIE is becoming commonplace.

But obtaining the CCIE is now more critical then in the past. The CCIE is
becoming the minimum requirement for many jobs in the industry. The bottom
line is when you apply for that next job, chances are you will be competing
against other that have their CCIE. If you do not have the number, you will
be at a disadvantage.

HAHAHAHA.

This is so true. Is it me, or is there just no regard at all lately for
networking or network engineers?

Being a CCIE makes you a glorified NOC person it seems, in the eyes of
so many managers.

Sometimes I'm not sure what the point of doing it was.
