HI
Here is my understanding
100 200 300 (Net: 192.168.1.0/24)
(R1) -------------- (R3) ------------------- (R2)
Lets say R3 is configured to use "local-as 100" for its R2 peering (neighbor
10.2.2.2 local-as 100 no-prepend).
Now R3 is receiving the route from R2 for net 192.168.1.0/24, see the test
result for with and without no-prepend.
Without no-pre-pend config:
------------------------------------
Rack1R3#show ip bgp
BGP table version is 4, local router ID is 10.2.2.3
Status codes: s suppressed, d damped, h history, * valid, > best, i -
internal,
r RIB-failure, S Stale
Origin codes: i - IGP, e - EGP, ? - incomplete
Network Next Hop Metric LocPrf Weight *Path*
*> 192.168.1.0 10.2.2.2 0 0 *100
300 i*
Rack1R3#
With no-pre-pend config:
----------------------------------
Rack1R3#show ip bgp
BGP table version is 2, local router ID is 10.2.2.3
Status codes: s suppressed, d damped, h history, * valid, > best, i -
internal,
r RIB-failure, S Stale
Origin codes: i - IGP, e - EGP, ? - incomplete
Network Next Hop Metric LocPrf Weight *Path*
*> 192.168.1.0 10.2.2.2 0 0 *300 i
*
Rack1R3#
Looks like R3 not append the AS100 into as-path for this prefix learned from
R2
