Nice work Adel! I never had a proctor outright ask me why I was making
complexity where none existed before, but I did get a few looks that
essentially said the same thing, LOL...

Subject: Passed R&S 20147

Hi all,

With the great blessings of God, I was able to pass the CCIE R&S lab exam
from first attempt on 1st of March in Dubai.

I have been preparing for this exam since 1st of Jan 2008 with the rate of
almost 40hrs/week with a full rack.

I can say the exam was really easy and straight forward... that was to the
extent that the proctor kept asking me: "Why are you trying to make the
questions more complicated?, it's just straight forward". By lunch time, I
was almost done and spent the last 3 hours revising twice.

The tools I used to prepare were as follows:

1- Attended the R&S bootcamp with "Tarun Pahuja" in Cairo last week of 2007.
The bootcamp was great and Tarun did a great job during and after the class.
I owe him a lot and thank him for his patience.

2- The great workbook Internetwork Expert's Vol 1 and 2. Did all 20 labs in
volume 2 and that helped a LOT. Although I had products from other vendors
but I decided to stick to one workbook and it seems I made a good choice.

3- 2 IE Mock labs and 1 NMC CheckiT lab. Although my results were not great
(60-70%) in all 3 labs but they were very important to give me the feeling
of the real thing. I can say the real reason for these results was the fact
that there is no proctor to ask in case I had doubts about the tasks.

4- The Documentation CD.

The exam environment and the proctor were great. It was a Saturday (weekend
in Dubai) so the building was very quiet and that helped a lot to
concentrate.

To everyone who is working on this same mission now. Study hard and give it
all your effort and it will pay off for sure. Do not think of it as a beast,
have self confidence and you will go through it.
