Are you running a 32 bit or 64 bit OS of windows? We can still boot all the
devices on a 32 bit by running multiple processes of dynamips, but it would
be much slower due to IPC - Inter Process Communication between processes.
The processor handles multiple threads much quicker than IPC. So it's better
to use a 64 bit OS and have multiple threads. I am using windows 2003 server
and I am getting very good performance. I will install Ubuntu and find out
the performance.

Subject: RE: Dynamips help -- NO CRASH ON WINDOWS Observed :)
Dear Ahsan
I have a similar sort of Machine Like yours with three Quad Ethernet Cards
and
Four External 3560 Switches. Initially i had problems with the Dynamips
Crashes i decided to switch to unix based platform , but before doing that i
got a UPS and everythin worked fine on Windows as well
I have noticed that if you turn on and off your server Propoerly with no
Power
failures than Windows also does the job for you, I have Nine Routers
interfaced with four external switches and CPU is like 10-15 % , i kept
running the Lab Topology for 9 Days and there was no CRASH Observed.
Hope this Hepls
Cheers

Windows is able to load all 14 cisco 3640s in dynamips, as required for the
r&s lab. But someone has suggested that if you run dynamips on Windows for a
few hours, its bound to crash. I wanna know how much there is to it? Do you
guys get frequent crashes when running dynamips over windows?> > Also, iam
unable to install Fedora n getting "HDA: Interrupt lost" msg over n over. i
think DMA controller driver may need to be installed. Its there on my
motherboard CD, but how do i install it?> > Any help would be highly
