I think the question was "can I force the 2950 to tag traffic in the
native VLAN?", and the answer is no... I wanted to do the same thing
here but I investigated and the tag native command is not supported on
all of our switches... Seems like the newer switches like 3750's can do
it but the older ones cannot...

My understanding is that cisco 2950 only support dot1q encapsulation
and hence by default it's only that encapsulation. When trunking is in
used, it does not need to specify which type.
Only the 35xx model support. ISL and dot1q. Model such as 3524, 3548,
3550 and 3560. Not such on higher model of 29xx such as 2960 and 2970.
