Greetings all,
I sat the R&S exam in Tokyo on Feb 6th, and thankfully I passed. This was my
first attempt. A big thankyou to everyone on this list who contributes, both
those with valid questions and those who answer them.
I took the written in September of 2006, began lab study on and off in early
2007, but really hit it hard from July, and studying full time for the 6 weeks
prior to the lab. The only study materials I used for the lab were the
InternetworkExpert workbook 4.1, the DocCD, and groupstudy.
I have my own rack at home, which I think helped immensely, I did try a rack
rental and while it worked fine, I preferred the flexibility of not HAVING to
do everything in a neat 8 hour period to match the rack rental, although I did
do most of the labs in one sitting, finishing them in under 5 hours by the end
of my studies. My rack consists of 4 physical 3550 switches and Dynamips
running on a Dell PowerEdge 2450. Taking the lab in Tokyo, I also got prepared
months ago by buying a Japanese keyboard off ebay so I would be comfortable on
the day - the only major differences to a US keyboard is the location of some
of the special characters (* ? / \ etc) and the tiny spacebar.
The biggest thankyou of all goes to the creators of Dynamips and Dynagen -
without these I doubt I could have gotten this far so quickly.
Cheers,
Ben Holko
