DSL PPPoA Virtual Template or Dialer?

 Hi All,
I'm new in the list (great resource!!!) and I'm working in my CCNP (just 1
exam left) ISCW. I've mastered almost all the exam topics but since
yesterday I become quite confused with some information I found regarding
PPPoA configuration.... and the certification guide hasn't been very clear
regarding this. In the real world I never had to work with DSL related
matters, that's why now my head is a mess. I wonder if someone in the list
could help me clarifying the following items??

I understand that there are three connectivity option for PPP over AAL5:
a- Virtual circuit multiplexed PPP over AAL5 (AAL5MUX)
b- LLC encapsulated PPP over AAL5 (AAL5SNAP)
c- Cisco PPP over ATM (AAL5CISCOPPP)

I found some configuration examples (also in CCO) where ATM subinterfaces or
physical interfaces are used indifferently as well as Virtual Templates or
interface Dialer for the subject configuration.

Now, I ask to all of you to excuse my lack of Cisco culture and experience
and of course, the probably stupid questions.

1. When to use for these 3 connectivity options physical interfaces or
subinterfaces?
2. When to use Virtual Templates or interface Dialer?
3. Is this just a matter IOS dependent?

Thanks in advance

Cheers.....Victor.
