Research or teaching? :)
What about consultants? I know the clients that I have for consulting span
the gambit of different technologies. While many wouldn't care whether I
had one or more CCIE's, there are different times that I'm sure they
appreciate the expert-level knowledge (and/or certification) in the area of
focus they are most concerned with at any point in time!
Also keep in mind that when you start boiling the different technologies
down to their core functionality, there are a huge number of similarities
between them. On the other hand, it takes a lot of depth (or free time) to
ponder that stuff. :)
Either way, as long as you enjoy your pursuits, that's the important thing!

Hi edmond,
I m with you a little bit there.I feel one CCIE certification is
enough.............maybe two.Anything above that should be left for people
who are into research and teaching. For those who hope to be in the
field.....Triple or Quadriple CCIE is just too much.
Being a CCIE to me is a landmark and is something you need to leave up to
after the exam. Thus the need to go deeper in that particular area not to
jump out of it for another year to pursue another CCIE and another
and..........
men.

Is almost like they get the IE in say R/S and think .. thats it ..I know it
all now - I can move on to something else.
But it takes years to become a true 'EXPERT' in any field - so dont let the
certifications grandiose title fool ya!
Build on what you have learnt through exam study - become a true expert -
and you will be a man my son ..
