The same here. I also tried the Google interview for a senior
position (and that was one year ago). To my surprise, they asked me
the same TCP/ARP/etc stuff, while I expected totally different
questions at a higher level, according to my work experience.

In my opinion, the interview questions should be an indicator of what
you are supposed to do in your future job. Well, after 10 years of
experience, I don't feel to much joy to dig into TCP packets most of
the time at my work.

I don't say that deep TCP understanding is not useful, but for this
kind of knowledge we have documentation. Documentation for quickly
taking good design or troubleshooting decisions is harder to get. For
that we have experience. Do they buy experience?
