The GroupStudy mailing list does not queue messages for more then a few
hours. Therefore, the problem most likely does not reside on the server.
The problem is most likely someone misconfigured their mail server and is
feeding messages back to the list. This has been a constant problem I have
been fighting since the beginning of the list. Over time I wrote software
that lessens the issue, but people seem to do strange things with their mail
servers.
So we need to find the misconfigured mail server so I can block it from
communicating with GroupStudy. The easiest way to find the problem is to
simply look at the headers of the duplicated e-mails. In the header it
should show the path the mail took, including the misconfigured mail server.
Can I get a volunteer or two to undertake the task?
Finally, please make sure the poster is not simply cc: multiple lists which
you are subscribed. If someone cc:'s two list, and you are subscribed to
both ... yes you will receive two copies of a message.
Thanks for your help,
Paul Borghese

Is it just me, or is the list spitting back messages a few days late
again???

While I can't comment about all the points you list, be very careful
about the sweeping "other vendors" part in point #1. After spending
many 10pm, 11pm, midnite (usually 1am I kick anyone out who's still
working so that we won't be TOO grumpy in the morning), I do kinda
resent being lumped into that.
Not all classes "need" to go that late. (At least in my case) I leave
it up to students to work from wherever. I always guarantee to be on
e-mail until at least 1am (which is why I'm often accused of not
sleeping), so students can feel free to work from wherever they are more
comfortable.
While it may very well be that Narbik and I are the only two
ADD/Insomniac instructors out there, it seems highly unlikely. I don't
have experience with other vendors to say one way or the other as you
do, but I would still caution against lumping EVERYONE together in
statements like that!
Just my two cents. Back to sleep now. Oh, damn. Students in class.
Caffeine. Good. :)

Some of the things I think that is noticeably different about Narbik's
Bootcamp versus others are:
1. 9AM to Midnight with the Instructor - Other vendors stop at 5-6pm and
leave students to their own devices.
2. One-on-one attention on a candidates issues and deficiencies. I've
heard of at least one other bootcamp that has two instructors dedicated
per sstudent (so I hear), but at other bootcamps, if a student has "too
many"
deficiencies, then a student may or may not get sufficient instructor
attention.
Resulting in varying value to each student per bootcamp. Hmmm... Not
naming names here but it is wrth mentioning.
3. Narbik is said to focus on basics and fundamentals
- well that is what the CCIE Lab consists of, so this
has value. As a veteran Boot Camp attendee at this
point, I can tell you that I've seen students (and yes me too) flounder
for
(blush) several minutes (30 or
more) to hours on a mis-understood or basic topic. As such I can tell
you this derails the value of a bootcamp to some students as well.
- Joe has a point here a well-prepared student has little value
attending a bootcamp. However, I'd say based on my personal
observations - most students are just not that well-prepared - I know it
took me two year to get where I am now and I am thankful for the
experiences. Still acknowledging I have a bit to go.
Ok got a problem to resolve...
