Hi Nalini,

If you have only one AS connected to ur AS then it will work as same
But they are different in their way they are :--
^1$ can have one and only AS 1 in the path e.g. (1)
Where as _1$ can have many number of AS in the path e.g. (10 20 30 40 50
1)
