it could be the setting on the console port on the switch itself, since you
can enter enable mode and the switch response to your commands, I will also
try the following....

#conf t
#line con 0
#speed 9600
#end
#wr
#reload
Remember to set your terminal line speed to 9600 before reconnecting...
