Hi GS,
I have a question & I'm hoping someone can correct me or point in the appropriate direction.
This is the scenario
SW1------SW2-----SW3----SW4
I have 10.10.10.0/24 address space assigned to hosts in vlan 1O on a all the switches. There is a multicast source also in the same vlan sending traffic to address 225.5.5.5.
The intended recipients of the multicast traffic are all in vlan 10. There are 4 switches all of which are 3550s. None of the swithces has an SVI in vlan 10 but have some in VLan 20,30, & 40 all in 10.10.X.0/24 (where x = vlan ID).
My question is without using an SVI at the very least will it be possible to forward the multicast feed?
Personally I don't think it will ever work unless a Layer 3 device is somehow involved but as with most things, I try to get other people's opinion.
Thanks in advance
