I agree with you, I've raised this up with a vendor before. Using clouds
for BGP relationships makes no technical sense!

Precisely. You may even find out that you do not need to re-diagram
everything. In my SP exam, I re-drew only the BGP (with details about
communities and path manipulation) and the VPNs.
BTW, to me it seems very unfortunate the way that workbooks present
BGP in diagrams. Why don't you guys use lines instead of clouds for
BGP? BGP is about neighbor policy after all. Personally, I find more
meaningful to draw with different color lines for IBGP (e.g. blue),
EBGP (green) and vpnv4 (red) and then add arrows with explanations for
policy details.
