Hi Dragan,

Sorry I forgot to mention what's the problem I'm having as a consequence.

In the lab, we're redistributing ospf routes to RIP so that R4 knows how to
come back.
so if it's V2, ofcourse R4 receives all the routes, but if it's V1 R4 does
not receive most of the routes
because of VLSM masks.

Now with V1 if I want R4 to be able to come back to all subnets, I need it
to have all routes or a 0.0.0.0 subnet.
I'm asked not to put a default or static route unless explicitly asked for.

So I can't use default static route on R4,
I can't use default route on R2 and redistribute it via RIP neither for the
same reason.

ip summary-address rip 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 on R2 on interface that connects to
R4 does not make difference.
I still can't see default route on R4.

Well I did finally found a solution,
with default-information originate.
but the problem I had was that, when I finally tried with
default-information originate command
at that moment I had ip summary-address rip 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 on the
interface as well,
and it didn't work.

I don't know why, but on ripv1 if you have summary-address of 0.0.0.0
0.0.0.0 and default-information originate,
it does not announce default route.

Then I took off the summary-address, and left just default-information
originate.
and it worked just fine.
I had 0.0.0.0 on R4.

Scott, thanks for your clarification.
I'll ask my company to check for new files, as they provided me with the
study material.
Many thanks anyway.

Regards,
