Asim,
Router-id plays a very important role in routing protocols. Please
read the lab carefully to see if they have asked you to use a specific
ipaddress or interface as the router-id, do what is required. If nothing is
mentioned, it is highly recommended that you choose an interface ip address
preferably a loopback to be the router-id. If you do not do it, you are
bound to get into trouble.
Ospf uses router-id for Virtual-links, DR elections,etc
BGP can also uses router-id for best-path selection process.

If you do not set the RID manually, there are chances that you might add
additional loopbacks, which might cause router-id to change after a reboot
or clearing of the routing protocol process.
